Multiplicity Project

Image
Originally meant to be uploaded before the autoscopy project, this project saw us taking multiple pictures of ourselves and combining them into one scene as best as possible. It was a real challenge making sure my camera moved as little as possible, and it did cause me problems. Despite those issues, this is still one of the works I am the most proud of for its ambition and scale.

Making Benny the Worm: My First Animated Short

Image
Our final project in class was to create a 1 minute long animation about anything that we wanted. I chose to create a Spongebob-esque character named Benny the Worm and make the short about his daily misadventures. The YouTube link can be found here: https://youtu.be/wo_DxJC3lDI For making the actual animated segments, I wanted to create a sense of simplicity, comfort, and joy in every scene. As such, every scene uses bold, bright colors and the set pieces are simple places you may find in a typical American home. The scenes towards the end utilize animation techniques from 90's cartoon slapstick from shows such as Spongebob Squarepants and Rocco's Modern Life. For the film's musical soundtrack, I utilized GarageBand to create the mood and tone for my scenes, as the music is just as important as the animation. I wanted to drive the feelings of comfort further in the opening segments, incorporating smooth jazz and simple percussion. For the ending sequence, I wanted to do a

For this project, I was tasked with taking a self portrait of myself and transforming it using filters, transparency, and image textures in Photoshop. Each image is either a different quality or has a special effect applied to it in post. For the project, I wanted to explore a more dark, macabre, and evil aesthetic. This was mainly achieved through the use of dragon scales and goat horns as background texture and a slight touch of red to simulate blood.

For this project, I had to insert myself into a film or TV show and make it look realistic. I chose Detective Pikachu for this assignment, being one of my favorite movies. The colors and the scale aren't perfect, and I accidentally put all of the effects all into one layer. However, I'm still proud of it regardless.

Color Palette Based Self Portrait Posters

While working in Adobe Illustrator, I was tasked to create a punk-inspired poster that conveyed a message. These posters also contained me in a self portrait style. The specific layout was inspired in part by Abigail Larson's artwork for MTG, specifically her art for Necropotence.

Caligram Based Self Portrait

This piece was created in Adobe Illustrator using line and text fill tools based on a pre existing image of my face. Every word has a meaning, whether its my name, something I like to eat, or a show or game I enjoy. For example, around 10 words on this piece relate to Spongebob Squaepants in some way, as my roommate and I were watching lots of Spongebob around the time we were doing this project.
